Divisional (Plant) Controller

Plant Controller

• Reports to President of the Business unit and dotted line to the parent company CFO at HQ office.
• My client is a private equity owned manufacturing company with vertically integrated manufacturing and design capabilities.
• They are looking for a new Plant Controller who is proactive and will partner with the Operations team.
• This division’s products include and Customize Capital Equipment and standard products for Oil & Gas and Industrials market

Position Responsibilities:

• Responsible for business finance, accounting, costing and internal controls.
• Also oversee the division’s HR, Procurement and International operations.
• Key responsibility includes understanding the cost drivers for division’s product costs and direct the development of standard product costs for raw materials labor and overhead to ensure accurate costing of products,
• This position is also responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of related systems and procedures to ensure the integrity of the division’s accounting records, timely consolidating the month end closing and safeguarding the company’s assets. 
• Preparing detailed monthly forecasts for the full year based upon the production drivers and key performance metrics at the facility
• Leading a weekly review of prior week and month -to-date estimates versus budget and forecast with the plant management team
• Inventory control and reconciliation, including reviewing or auditing the adherence to cycle count procedures and leading the annual physical inventory
• Fixed asset control and reconciliation, including conducting the fixed asset physical inventory
• Management of the capital project process at facility, including the reviewing and approving of capital project requests, identifying obsolescence and project expenses, preparing financial justifications and ensuring timely creation of assets
• Preparing economic cost studies for projects concerning new or existing products, manufacturing processes, equipment, or facilities
• Annually reviewing and auditing of internal control procedures in order to sustain SOX compliance and to manage and minimize financial risk at the facility
• Preparing and developing the annual plant budget, including developing standards and updating the standards and period expense budgets.
• Supporting the plant in generating and quantifying cost savings opportunities, and supporting the plant management team in the implementation of cost reduction initiatives
  
• Supporting and leading the coordination of all plant internal and external financial and operational audits and addressing any audit findings with plant and divisional leadership
• Month-end closing responsibilities, including reporting and analyzing variances to budget and forecast for the plant management team and divisional leadership
• Responding quickly and accurately to customer requests, including special projects and other duties or analysis as requested by plant or divisional leadership
• Prepare monthly input to general ledger and financial reporting systems. 
• Play an active role partnering with the President and aid management decision-making by providing fact based data and analysis and participate in major decision-making process.
• The person MUST have 3-5 years of strong costing and analytical skills in capital equipment industry environment.

Required Education and Experience:

• 4 year degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or CMA preferred
• 5+ years of Cost Accounting/Plant Controllership related experience
